BRUCE DICKINSON's 'Chemical Wedding' Movie Honored At Spain's CRYPTSHOW Festival

"Chemical Wedding" — the supernatural horror-thriller written by IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson and longtime "Monty Python" editor Julian Doyle, who also directed the film — was presented with a special award at the Cryptshow festival — a four-day celebration of the terror and horror film genres, which was held July 15-18 in Barcelona, Spain.

Toni Benages, the festival's director, said, "Cryptshow film festival is proud to give our special award to Bruce Dickinson and Julian Doyle for creating such and original and uncompromising film as 'Chemical Wedding' and giving us the chance to screen this wonderful picture for the first time in Spain."

Doyle accepted the award by saying, "This is the strangest but most welcome award I have ever received. I love it. It will take pride of place on my mantle piece and scare the life out of my visitors." He also praised the festival for its dedication to showing many exciting experimental films.

"Chemical Wedding" was released in the U.S. under the title "Crowley" on DVD via Anchor Bay.

Dickinson is not the first rocker to be inspired by Crowley, who died in 1947. LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page was a big collector of Crowley's writings and even bought his Scottish estate. OZZY OSBOURNE, meanwhile, eulogized him in the song "Mr. Crowley".
